Although Mixxx 2.2.3 contains many important updates and bugfixes, it's possible some users may experience issues. If you do, you can still get our previous stable version, Mixxx 2.1.8.

Download Mixxx 2.2.3 for 16.04 (Xenial) or later:

This will install the latest version of Mixxx from the Mixxx PPA on Launchpad.

Ubuntu Repositories:
Ubuntu also provides a version of Mixxx which can be installed directly from the Ubuntu Software Centre. This version is usually woefully out of date; therefore using the PPA is advised.

Fedora

An RPM packagefor installation is available in theRPM Fusion repositories.

Please refer to RPM Fusion's instructionson how to enable the repositories on your system. Mixxx only requires enabling thefree repository; the nonfree repository is not necessary for Mixxx.

RPM Fusion builds are maintained by the Mixxx development team.We support the next, the current, and selected previousFedora release(s) if possible.

Mixxx is advanced DJ software which can be used for broadcasting. It has many features, covered in the manual Mixxx provides. Our guide will focus on simplifying its interface for basic usage and using it for broadcasting.

  1. Download and Install Mixxx
    You can download Mixxx from their website here: https://www.mixxx.org/download
    It is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
  2. Open Mixxx
    A window may appear asking for you to select your audio files. You can choose your audio file location or simply close the window if you’d prefer to select them later.

Simplifying the Interface

  1. Open the Mixxx settings
  2. Go to “Interface” in the sidebar and switch to the “Tango” skin.
  3. Close the settings window.
  4. Disable the interface items at the top of the Mixxx window:


Broadcasting with Mixxx

  1. In the settings of Mixxx, go to “Live Broadcasting” in the sidebar.
  2. Change the “Type” to “Shoutcast 1”.
  3. Enter your “Server IP”, found in your VosCast account, into the “Host” box.
  4. Enter your “Port” into the “Port” box.
  5. Change the “Bitrate” option to the maximum bitrate of your plan.
  6. Enter your station name and other details in the “Stream info” section.
  7. Close the settings window.
  8. Click the antenna icon at the top of Mixxx to begin broadcasting. After that, any audio you play inside of Mixxx will broadcast on your station.

Using a Microphone

  1. Open the Mixxx settings
  2. Go to Sound Hardware > Input
  3. Select your microphone
  4. Enable the mic interface item
  5. When you're ready to mix your microphone audio into the output, click the 'Microphone Talk-Over' button. Press it again to stop broadcasting your microphone.
  6. Adjust the output level of the microphone by clicking and dragging the dial to where you want it.

Free Auto Dj Software

In Mixxx, you normally have to manually queue-up audio files and play them when you're ready to. If you aren't interested in manually DJing this way, you can use Mixxx's Auto DJ feature.

  1. Ctrl/cmd + click the tracks you want included. Alternatively, click the first track, hold shift, and then click the last track to select them all.
  2. Right-click the selected tracks and choose one of the 'Add to Auto DJ Queue' options.
  3. Go to the Auto DJ section and click 'Enable Auto DJ'.
  4. Begin playing one of the tracks and the Auto DJ will automatically choose the next track(s) for you.
